The programme has four components:
- Academic learning through courses on topics related to Business and Peace at The Hague University of Applied Sciences and other Dutch universities; and through the design and development of academic programmes which are aligned with the UPEACE main campus in Costa Rica.
- Applied and action research on addressing business dilemmas in both theoretical and practical ways and exploring innovative ways of implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
- Conferences and seminars to raise awareness on specific themes related to the programme and which also contribute to raising awareness and knowledge on the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
- Building strategic partnerships, engaging Dutch businesses as well as other relevant stakeholders in the development and implementation of a Business for Peace initiative of the UN Global Compact network.
Target groups of the programme are Dutch multinational and medium sized companies, social entrepreneurs, civil society organizations, government, academicians and students and other stakeholders who are actively contributing in this area.
The programme will be operated in close cooperation with other organizations, institutes and knowledge centres which share similar values and principles. In particular it will ensure the commitment of all parties to the 10 UN Global Compact principles and the Earth Charter principles.
